Wherein Bisected goes on a political rant

Tue Dec 8, 2009, 10:14 AM
I can't help but cringe whenever someone makes a "ZOMG! They're killing off Christmas" argument. Cases in point;

  1. There are other holidays around at this time. People celebrate them. If the idea of blanket terms for all of them or the "others" being mentioned rather than your own bothers you then QQ.

  2. Just because someone wants to use a different phrase doesn't mean it doesn't mean the same thing. The Yank's national anthem doesn't mention their president, but that doesn't mean they don't have/want one, does it?

  3. And my biggest pet hate; the word Xmas is not some sort of evil secular conspiracy to "take the Christ out of Christmas". X represents the Greek letter of the same symbol (pronounced "Chi") and has been used as an abbreviation for Christ before the most famous bearer of that title was even born.

Note that I consider individuals such opinions the larval stage of Daily Mail readers. Unless they're cab drivers in which case such rants are to be expected.

*sigh* Three weeks until courswork/Christmas, and coursework after the holidays. Not to mention I'll be in a completly unfamiliar house (my parents moved house while I've been at uni for financial reasons).

I don't feel like working, but I've got a 7 hour day every Thursday. Oh well, when it comes down to it I enjoy it. Even the stuff I hate.

Yesterday I woke up with an unpleasent taste in my mouth and a pain at the back of my throat/nose. This morning it's official (the green mucas has spoken); I'm coming down with a cold. I only got over one a few months ago v_v

Oh well, at least it's happening before the exams.

I don't post entries in this too often, but it's not like anyone's following it. Anyway, I've moved back into halls and I'm settling back into student life again. Lectures don't start until tomorrow though. Anyway, I uploaded a drawing a few hours ago, but if you're reading this you've probably already seen it.

It took a lot of wasted paper and reading of books, but I finally managed it. Now to draw something from a birdseye view.

I got a PS3 on Friday. I haven't played any games yet (I've been distracted from it by prototype) but I've just put Disgaea 3 in and I'm ready for an all nighter. ^_^
